Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Drivers commonly praise its powerful engines, smooth rides, and good value for money, while also noting positive fuel efficiency and comfort. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a full-size pickup with serious capability and a more modern cabin than earlier versions. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers see as dependable and trouble-free enough for regular use, especially when equipped with the stronger engine choices. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the truck was used, since long-term ownership risk is always higher when a pickup has been worked hard.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,061 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,935 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $39,935 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,164 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If prices stay soft, future resale values could remain under pressure compared with stronger-trending years. Even so, trucks with broad appeal and solid owner satisfaction often hold buyer interest better than less popular alternatives.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,422 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,935 CAD average.
• It offers a proven package with loyal buyers and strong sales.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $45,735 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $39,935 CAD average.
• It adds power upgrades and a more trail-ready off-road option.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated features and current-market pricing, the 2022 is the primary pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want newer equipment and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the upgrade route.
