Used 2021 Volkswagen Passat for Sale nearMontreal, QC

How much does the 2021 Volkswagen Passat cost?

Prices have softened 16.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 75 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Volkswagen Passat a good car?

Generally — 4.33/5 from owners and 6.5/10 from our experts point to a car that does the basics well without trying to be flashy. Volkswagen positions the Passat as a value-focused midsize sedan, and that fits the car’s straightforward four-door layout, clean cabin design, and emphasis on simplicity. It also benefits from a significant 2020 update, so the 2021 model still feels reasonably current even as it remains an ageing design.

The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

That makes it a sensible choice if you want a conventional midsize sedan with familiar controls and a practical, no-nonsense character. The market also shows 29.3% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its value-first positioning.

Is the 2021 Volkswagen Passat reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Volkswagen’s approach here is simple: one engine, front-wheel drive, and a conventional automatic transmission. That kind of uncomplicated setup can be appealing if you want fewer moving parts and a car that is easy to live with. The Passat also comes across as well executed in daily use, with good highway ride quality and cabin noise levels, plus fit and finish that were described as excellent.

Volkswagen’s standard Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and Intelligent Crash Response System add useful protection after an incident, and the car’s basic mechanical layout should keep ownership straightforward. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about buying into an older sedan that is nearing the end of its run in Canada.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volkswagen Passat?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Highline is the more accessible choice, while the Execline adds 19-inch wheels, an Adaptive Front-lighting System, built-in navigation, an eight-speaker Fender premium audio system, and lane-keep assist plus lane departure warning. The base setup already includes LED headlights and taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a clean, functional interior, but the Execline is the better-equipped trim if you want the most complete package.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 Passat uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It makes 174 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque, with stronger low-end pull than the horsepower figure suggests.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, and Intelligent Crash Response System. Lane-keep assist and lane departure warning are added on the Execline grade.
• Infotainment: All models get Volkswagen’s MIB2 system with a 6.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto through App-Connect, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a single USB-A port. Execline models add built-in navigation and the Fender premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimated fuel consumption at 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined, with 9.8 city and 6.6 highway.

Which 2021 Volkswagen Passat trim should I buy?

The 2021 Volkswagen Passat is offered in 2 trim levels: Highline and Execline.

Here's the short version:

• Highline: This is the trim to focus on if you want the best value. It gives you the core Passat formula with the standard safety and convenience equipment, plus the straightforward cabin and simple controls that define the car.
• Execline: Choose this if you want the most complete Passat. It adds the 19-inch wheels, Adaptive Front-lighting System, built-in navigation, Fender audio, and extra driver-assistance features, making it the better pick if you want a more fully equipped sedan.

Adaptive cruise control is standard on all trim levels, so you do not need to move up the range just to get that feature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volkswagen Passat?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to make a deal possible.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 75 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.97% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,356 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volkswagen Passat's resale value?

The current average of $19,484 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,465 CAD.

That drop suggests the Passat has already moved into a more buyer-friendly pricing zone, which can help future resale by making today’s purchase less exposed to peak pricing. At the same time, the model’s age and its nearing discontinuation in Canada may limit how much value it can hold compared with more in-demand midsize sedans.

If you buy at the right price and keep the car in good condition, the Passat’s value-focused positioning can still work in your favour. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Volkswagen Passat safe?

The 2021 Passat earns top “good” scores in all IIHS crash tests, though its standard headlights only earned a “marginal” rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen makes adaptive cruise control standard on all trim levels, along with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Lane-keep assist and lane departure warning are reserved for the Execline grade. The Passat also includes Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and Intelligent Crash Response System as standard equipment.

The headlight rating is the main caveat to keep in mind, especially if you do a lot of night driving.

Should I buy a 2021 Volkswagen Passat or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Adaptive cruise control is standard, and the 2021 update leaves the Passat easier to understand and better equipped than before.

The bottom line: The 2021 Passat makes the most sense if you want a straightforward, value-focused midsize sedan and you find one priced well. If you are shopping mainly on price, this year’s softer market and decent inventory make it worth considering now rather than waiting.
