Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as a mid-size sedan that aims for a more elevated feel without losing the broad appeal that has made it popular. Honda refined the Accord’s features list for this model year and priced it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Safety was also a priority in the 2021 Accord, and that focus helped this fresh version earn high praise.
For buyers, the appeal is in the blend of polish, value, and confidence. The available owner feedback points to strong performance, a luxurious-feeling cabin, good gas mileage, modern styling, and up-to-date technology. At the same time, some drivers felt the pricing was high for the features offered, and others noted that it is not the fastest model available.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

There are 132 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious-feeling features, good gas mileage, modern styling, and up-to-date technology. In use-case terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a mid-size sedan that feels more polished than basic without giving up everyday practicality.
The market also shows 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which supports the case for shopping carefully and comparing examples.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, with praise centred on performance, good gas mileage, and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes the Accord as a well-rounded daily driver with engaging dynamics and measured braking performance, which supports confidence in everyday dependability.
Honda’s safety and equipment focus also helps reinforce the sense that this is a car built for long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about finding one that was maintained well and priced appropriately for its equipment level.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Canada-exclusive SE trim adds heated front seats and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, while the Sport adds a power moonroof, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, a heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation, while Touring adds ventilated front seats and more tech. Base-trim feature gaps are most noticeable in comfort and convenience equipment.
- Powertrain: The standard engine is a 192-horsepower 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with a CVT, while Sport 2.0 and Touring 2.0 use a 252-hp 2.0-litre turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger one is the more engaging choice.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. There are no major trim-level safety gaps called out in the data.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, an extra USB port, and a Wi-Fi hot spot when HondaLink services are activated.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-litre engine is rated at 7.2 L/100 km combined in the SE and EX-L grades and 7.5 L/100 km combined in the Sport and Touring grades. The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.1 L/100 km combined.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, and Touring 2.0.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. It brings heated front seats and the key connectivity features, making it the best-value starting point for many shoppers.
- Sport: This is the better pick if you want a more complete comfort-and-tech package, including the moonroof, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. It is the trim that most clearly balances equipment and price.
- EX-L: Choose this if leather upholstery and rear-seat comfort matter most. The heated outboard rear seats and second-row ventilation make it the most family-friendly step up.
- Touring: This is the most fully equipped 1.5-litre model, adding ventilated front seats and the highest level of convenience and tech features in the standard-engine lineup.
- Sport 2.0: Pick this if you want the stronger 2.0-litre engine and a more engaging drive without jumping all the way to the top trim.
- Touring 2.0: This is the top choice if you want the most power and the most equipment together, but it will usually make sense only if you value both performance and features highly.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim decision mostly comes down to comfort, tech, and which engine you prefer.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 132 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.65% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $24,771 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $25,081 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,714 CAD.
That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. A lower entry price today can help support demand, especially for shoppers comparing the Accord against similarly priced rivals.
If the market stays near this range, well-equipped examples should remain easier to move than overpriced ones. Strong condition, desirable trims, and good maintenance history will matter more when it comes time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Standard equipment also includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, and traffic sign recognition.
The main safety caveat is not a crash-test weakness but rather that some of the most advanced convenience and visibility features are reserved for higher trims, so you should check the equipment list carefully on any used example.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.65% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refined the Accord’s features list and made safety a priority for this model year.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $22,801 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,081 CAD average.
- It offers a polished feel, strong driving dynamics, and a huge back seat.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced pick, the 2021 is the stronger choice thanks to its updated features, strong safety credentials, and broad appeal. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2020 is the better value path, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
