What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canada-exclusive SE is the value play, while Sport adds a moonroof, wireless phone charger, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. EX-L brings leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation, while Touring adds ventilated front seats and more tech. If you want the best balance of equipment and price, the Sport is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: You get a 192-horsepower 1.5-litre turbo-four with a CVT on SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring, or a 252-hp 2.0-litre turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic on Sport 2.0 and Touring 2.0. The smaller engine is the efficiency choice, while the larger one is the more engaging option.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Every Accord also gets vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, LED daytime running lights, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Every Accord has an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, an extra USB port, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-litre engine is rated at 7.2 L/100 km combined in SE and EX-L, and 7.5 L/100 km combined in Sport and Touring. The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, and Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the least expensive way into the Accord and still gives you heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not use.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the moonroof, wireless phone charger, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. If you want a more complete-feeling Accord without jumping to the upper trims, this is the one to target.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation. It suits you best if rear-seat comfort matters.
• Touring: This is the top regular 1.5-litre trim and adds ventilated front seats, 19-inch wheels, and more tech features. It is the pick if you want the most luxurious version without moving to the 2.0-litre models.
• Sport 2.0: This is the driver’s choice, pairing the stronger 2.0-litre turbo with the Sport equipment set. It is the right fit if you care more about power than fuel economy.
• Touring 2.0: This combines the most powerful engine with the most upscale regular Accord equipment. It is the most complete version if you want both performance and features.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up trims for the core safety package.

What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s refreshed features list and strong safety focus make this year especially well-rounded.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,166 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $24,781 CAD average.
• It is a polished family midsize sedan with rakish good looks, delightful driving dynamics, and a huge back seat.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2021 is the stronger choice thanks to its refreshed equipment, strong safety story, and softer pricing than a year ago. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2020 is the better value path and still delivers the Accord’s core strengths.
