What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canada-exclusive SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring trims are the main value ladder, with the SE adding heated front seats and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, while the Sport adds a moonroof, wireless phone charger, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. The EX-L adds leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation, while the Touring adds ventilated front seats and more tech. The base SE is the most value-focused choice if you want the essentials without stretching for extras.
• Powertrain: You get a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with a CVT on the SE, Sport, EX-L, and Touring, or a 252-hp 2.0-litre turbo-four with a 10-speed automatic on the Sport 2.0 and Touring 2.0. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger one is the more engaging option.
• Safety package: Every Accord comes with Honda Sensing, including lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The standard safety suite is a major selling point, and there are no trim-level gaps called out in the standard equipment list.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add satellite radio, HD radio, a wireless phone charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, an extra USB port, and a Wi-Fi hot spot when HondaLink services are activated.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-litre engine is rated at 7.2 L/100 km combined in the SE and EX-L, and 7.5 L/100 km combined in the Sport and Touring. The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 9.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, and Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the best-value trim if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the full safety suite, making it the smart starting point for most shoppers.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a more complete feature set, including the moonroof, wireless phone charger, premium audio, heated steering wheel, and paddle shifters. It adds a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to luxury-oriented territory.
• EX-L: This is the comfort-focused pick, with leather upholstery, heated outboard rear seats, and second-row ventilation. It suits you best if rear-seat comfort matters and you want a more premium cabin.
• Touring: This is the top mainstream trim, adding ventilated front seats, navigation, rain-sensing wipers, and a head-up display. It’s the right choice if you want the most equipment and the most polished daily experience.
• Sport 2.0: Pick this if you want the stronger 2.0-litre turbo engine and a more engaging drive. It’s the enthusiast-leaning choice in the lineup.
• Touring 2.0: This combines the top trim’s equipment with the more powerful engine, making it the most fully loaded and most capable version in the range.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so safety coverage is strong no matter which trim you choose.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda refined the features list and made safety a priority.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,217 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $24,781 CAD average.
• It offers rakish good looks, delightful driving dynamics, and a huge back seat.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished, better-equipped, and safety-focused version, the 2021 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want a roomy, well-rounded Accord, the 2020 is the better value path.
