What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most straightforward version, while higher trims add more upscale materials, more equipment, and a more luxurious feel. Some versions also miss features that appear on better-equipped trims, so it’s worth checking whether the car you’re considering has the convenience and comfort items you want.
• Powertrain: The Accord uses turbocharged four-cylinder engines, with a 1.5-litre turbo four in 1.5T models and a 2.0-litre turbo four in 2.0T models. The 1.5T is efficient and smooth, while the 2.0T brings stronger performance and a more muscular feel.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing comes standard and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system is quick and easy to use, with a customisable home screen and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all trims in Canada. Wireless device charging is standard on Touring, and rear USB ports are standard on EX-L and Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5T with CVT is rated at 7.9 L/100 km city and 6.3 L/100 km highway, while the 2.0T automatic is rated at 10.4 L/100 km city and 7.4 L/100 km highway. Sport and Touring trims with the 1.5T have higher ratings, as do the manuals.

Which 2018 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: Honda Accord LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• Honda Accord LX: This is the simplest way into the Accord, and it makes sense if you want the core strengths of the car without paying for extras. It still benefits from the Accord’s roomy cabin, strong safety suite, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim if you want a more engaging feel and a better-equipped cabin without jumping too far up the price ladder. It also gets LaneWatch, and it’s one of the trims where the stronger 2.0-litre engine is available.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-focused equipment. It suits you best if you care about a more luxurious cabin and want a step up in refinement.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich 1.5T trim, with extras such as wireless device charging, blind-spot monitoring, and rear USB ports. It’s the right pick if you want the most complete version of the standard engine lineup.
• Sport 2.0: This is the choice for buyers who want the stronger 2.0-litre turbo engine in a sportier trim. It’s the best fit if performance matters more to you than maximum comfort features.
• Touring 2.0: This is the top-spec choice for shoppers who want the strongest engine plus the most equipment. It’s the most complete Accord here, but it also sits at the top of the price range.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so even the lower trims start with a strong safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 216 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,009 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $19,025 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,921 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the Accord easier to buy now but a little less favourable if you’re thinking about future trade-in value. If prices stay near this level, sellers may need to be more competitive to stand out.

The Accord’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and high owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Well-equipped trims with the right features are likely to hold buyer interest better than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord safe?

The 2018 Accord is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing comes standard on every Accord and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. Auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views also come standard.

Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, while LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L. A lower headlight rating kept the Accord from earning Top Safety Pick+ status, so that is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model stands out for its all-new design, sporty driving character, and broad appeal as a roomy, efficient family sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive Accord of this generation, the 2018 is the one to target because it combines strong owner satisfaction, a polished cabin, and a more engaging drive. If you’re mainly focused on price, you can also compare nearby years, but the 2018 remains a compelling choice when you want a well-rounded used midsize sedan with a strong reputation.
