What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LS and LT are the more basic versions, while the Activ and RS add a more distinctive look and standard all-wheel drive. Base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps if they want the richer appearance and extra equipment found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The LS and LT use a turbocharged 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine with 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the other versions use a turbo 1.3-litre 3-cylinder with 155 hp and 174 lb-ft. The 1.3-litre setup is the stronger choice if you want more relaxed everyday performance.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator. Depending on trim, you can also get blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assistance, a high-definition reversing camera, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth pairing for two phones, SiriusXM, Teen Driver, and Chevrolet Connected Access with a Wi-Fi hotspot. An upgraded 8-inch system adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and cloud-connected vehicle personalisation.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trailblazer Activ AWD averaged 8.8 L/100 km in testing, versus an official combined rating of 7.6 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Trailblazer’s style, standard safety tech, and core infotainment without stretching the budget.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the LS with a more complete equipment mix while staying focused on value and everyday use.
• Activ: Choose this if you want the more rugged appearance, standard all-wheel drive, and the stronger 1.3-litre powertrain.
• RS: Pick this if you prefer the sportier look and the same standard all-wheel-drive setup as the Activ.

Chevrolet’s standard safety suite is called Chevy Safety Assist, and it includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 101 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.17% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,311 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $19,311 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,315 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Trailblazer has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside exposure later because much of the depreciation has already happened. Strong demand for affordable, well-equipped small SUVs should help support interest over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer safe?

The 2021 Trailblazer earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward-collision alert with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a safe following distance indicator. You also get 10 airbags, a rear-seat reminder system, Teen Driver technology, and subscription-based automatic collision notification service.

There are some caveats to keep in mind: the IIHS noted slight deductions for headlights on some grades and for ease of use on the LATCH connectors, and the expert drive found the lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist to be inconsistent. Adaptive cruise control was also described as over- and under-reactive.

Should I buy a 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings strong technology, standard Chevy Safety Assist, and a new-entry-point role beneath the Equinox.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,847 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,311 CAD average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel.

The 2021 is the better pick if you want the lower price and the strongest value story. If you can spend more and want a few extra convenience touches, the 2022 is the better secondary path.
