How much does the 2021 Acura TLX cost?

Prices have softened 5.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 62 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2021 Acura TLX a good car?

Generally — the 2021 Acura TLX earns 4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from experts. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

It is positioned as Acura’s sport sedan with a new platform, new exterior and interior, and a more distinct identity than before. That makes it a stronger fit if you want a midsize luxury sedan that leans into driving character and presentation rather than blending in.

The market shows 29.0% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Acura TLX reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The TLX is presented as a thoughtfully engineered premium sedan with a strong emphasis on quality, technology, and craftsmanship. Its new-generation design and platform help it feel more substantial and more focused than the previous approach.

Its powertrain and chassis tuning are described as eager, sprightly, and solid over a variety of road surfaces, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic competence and more about whether you want a premium sedan whose upkeep and complexity may be higher than a mainstream car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Acura TLX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The TLX is described as a premium sport sedan with a strong visual presence, high-quality materials, and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen. Base models miss some of the richer equipment found higher up the range, so you should compare the standard cabin and tech content carefully before deciding.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. SH-AWD with torque vectoring is standard, and the car is tuned for a sporty, balanced feel.
• Safety package: All models include adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian sensing, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, and a multi-angle rear-view camera. Blind-spot monitoring is on all models but base, so that trim-level gap matters.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system includes a 10.2-inch landscape screen, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, Siri Eyes Free, SMS text messaging, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Navigation with voice recognition is standard above the base trim level.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel use at 11.2 L/100 km in city driving, 8.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Acura TLX trim should I buy?

The 2021 Acura TLX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Tech, A-Spec, Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, but you give up blind-spot monitoring and navigation, so it makes the most sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with fewer convenience and safety features.
• Tech: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds navigation with voice recognition and keeps the TLX’s core luxury and tech appeal intact.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportier presentation and the available ELS Studio 3D 17-speaker premium audio system.
• Platinum Elite: This is the most fully equipped version, adding adaptive dampers, a head-up display, and the richest feature set in the range.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring is not included on the base trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Acura TLX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should be able to shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 62 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,327 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $31,659 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,362 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the TLX’s value will depend on how well it holds demand against newer alternatives and how cleanly it presents in the used market.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Acura TLX safe?

The 2021 Acura TLX received a “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives it a five-star overall rating, with only the front passenger side crash test receiving four stars.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All models come with adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, blind-spot monitoring on all models but base, lane-keeping assist, pedestrian sensing, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition, traffic jam assist, a pedestrian injury mitigation design, ACE body structure, a full complement of airbags, ABS, stability control, traction control, and a multi-angle rear-view camera system with dynamic guidelines.

Available safety features include rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, and the head-up display.

Should I buy a 2021 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, new styling, and a more distinct identity for Acura’s sport sedan.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,340 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $31,659 CAD average.
• It leans into Acura’s enthusiast image and rewards more engaging driving.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $35,577 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $31,659 CAD average.
• It continues the design renaissance with strong road presence and genuine performance capability.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the best fit if you want the newer-generation TLX with stronger identity and a more polished overall package. If price matters most, the 2020 is the value play; if you want to spend more for the next model year, the 2022 keeps the same core appeal at a higher price.

How does the 2021 Acura TLX compare to the 2021 Honda Accord?
