How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 13.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 216 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it delivers good value compared with rivals like the Nissan Rogue and CR-V. For you, that makes it especially appealing if you want a practical compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive, family-friendly usability, and a calm, confidence-inspiring drive. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market choice.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on its safety, smooth driving feel, and overall value. That said, some owners mention road noise and a cabin that can feel a bit narrower than expected, so a careful inspection and test drive still matter.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly, especially if you want to avoid avoidable wear-related issues over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right example.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 216 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,960 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $22,988 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,594 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for practical, safety-focused SUVs can help support values, but condition and maintenance history will still matter a lot.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-liked compact SUV with strong owner approval, standard all-wheel drive, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities, the 2020 is a solid place to focus. If your priority is stretching your budget further, it also makes sense to compare nearby model years and choose the one with the best combination of condition, price, and maintenance history.
