Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it offers strong value compared with rivals like the Nissan Rogue and CR-V. Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights a reliable, dependable feel that many owners are comfortable living with over time. That kind of trouble-free reputation matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily commuting and year-round use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean maintenance history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 205 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,711 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $22,711 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,718 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Forester easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range. Demand should remain supported by the model’s practical reputation and broad appeal to everyday SUV shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Forester is a strong choice if you want a practical, safety-focused compact SUV with standard all-wheel drive and broad owner approval. If your priority is value, the 2020 makes sense because pricing has eased and deal availability is decent. If you are especially price-sensitive, you could also compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar equipment and condition for less money.
