Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Ascent earns a 4.88/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its roominess, safety features, and family-friendly design, and many also like the comfortable interior and balanced driving experience. It fits especially well if you want a practical three-row SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a layout built around family use. Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value a vehicle they can count on for family duty. Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,333 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $23,333 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,525 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The current range also gives you a clearer benchmark for judging whether a used listing is priced aggressively or just fairly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Subaru Ascent is the right pick if you want a well-liked, family-focused three-row SUV and you can find one priced near the current average or below. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it’s also worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a similar Ascent offers a better deal, but the 2020 remains a strong starting point for shoppers who value owner satisfaction and current market softness.
