How much does the 2020 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 13.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 129 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Ascent earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its roominess, safety features, and family-friendly design, and many also like the comfortable interior and balanced driving experience. That lines up well with its role as a practical three-row SUV for larger families, especially if you want standard all-wheel drive and a spacious cabin. With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free in everyday family use, with owners highlighting its comfort, safety, and overall confidence on the road. That kind of long-term approval matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for regular commuting, road trips, and family duty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright satisfaction and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly, since any three-row SUV can become costly if it has been neglected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 129 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,341 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $23,634 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,270 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be set with the current softer market in mind rather than last year’s higher pricing. Even so, the Ascent’s family-friendly appeal and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 is a strong choice if you want a well-liked, family-focused three-row SUV and you can find one priced competitively. If you’re more price-sensitive, it makes sense to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
