How much does the 2020 Subaru Ascent cost?

There are 126 listings available, which suggests a decent amount of inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Ascent earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its roominess, safety features, and family-friendly design, and many also like the comfortable interior and balanced driving experience. It fits especially well if you want a roomy, three-row SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a practical layout for family use. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable and easy to live with, especially for families who value comfort, safety, and everyday usability. That kind of owner confidence matters when you’re looking at a used SUV that may need to serve as a long-term family hauler. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright reliability concerns and more about making sure the specific example has been maintained well over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,331 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $23,460 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,733 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be helpful if you’re buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at today’s average, your future resale value may be shaped by how well the market holds up and how much depreciation has already been absorbed. Strong demand for family-focused SUVs can help, but the current trend still points to a softer resale outlook than it had a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the one to focus on. It gives you a lower average price than the nearby newer model year while still delivering the roomy, family-first setup that makes the Ascent appealing. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a slightly older example offers a better entry point.
