That price movement suggests the Sentra has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you buy now and plan to own it for several years. If the market stays steady, future resale pressure may be less severe than it was during the first year of ownership. Strong value positioning and broad shopper appeal can also help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,148 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $14,702 CAD average.
• It adds a more attractive exterior and interior.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and are happy with a well-equipped compact sedan that owners rate highly. Consider the 2021 if you’re willing to pay more for a fresher design and a more polished feel.
