How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It is a well-rounded compact sedan that aims to be competent and affordable rather than flashy, and it benefits from being part of a newer generation after the 2020 redesign. The Sentra’s appeal is its balance: it covers the basics well, feels current, and suits you if you want a straightforward small sedan for everyday use.

30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which points to a market with some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Sentra is described as a solid, competent compact car with few, if any, shortcomings, and its newer-generation status helps it feel less like an ageing carryover. Its 2.0-litre engine and available CVT are presented as consistent rather than exciting, but the powertrain is judged satisfactory for commuting, city driving, and the occasional road trip.

The Sentra is backed by a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which adds some reassurance for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about major flaws and more about whether its modest performance and feature set will still meet your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim gives you the essentials, including a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4.2-inch driver’s display, while the SV adds an 8-inch screen, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, premium cloth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, intelligent cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The SR adds 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, sport cloth seats with orange stitching, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Sentra uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. In Canada, you get a six-speed manual standard and a CVT available, with the manual also offered on the SR.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor were fitted to the test vehicle.
• Infotainment: The base model has a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, and Bluetooth. SV and SR trims upgrade to an 8-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada-rated fuel consumption is 9.2 L/100 km city, 6.2 highway, and 7.9 combined with the manual, or 8.0 city, 6.0 highway, and 7.1 combined with the CVT. SR figures rise slightly to 9.4/6.4/8.1 with the manual and 8.2/6.1/7.3 with the CVT.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sentra. You still get the core tech and safety basics, including the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the standard driver-assistance suite.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, premium cloth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, intelligent cruise control, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier look and extra equipment, including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, and upgraded interior trim.

The standard safety package is strong across the range, with forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 282 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,485 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $18,485 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,038 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Sentra has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at today’s average, there may be less room for appreciation later unless market conditions improve. On the other hand, the lower entry price can help keep demand steady among budget-conscious shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra earns a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra comes with a solid standard safety suite that includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor are also mentioned on the test vehicle.

The main caveat is that the IIHS noted lower headlight ratings, even though the Sentra still earned its top award.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It benefits from the newer-generation redesign and strong standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,097 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $18,485 CAD average.
• It blends style, efficiency, technology, and performance into a polished, well-rounded package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and safety. If you are more price-sensitive and want a slightly cheaper entry point, the 2021 is worth a look.
