Used 2020 Nissan Altima for Sale nearToronto, ON

How much does the 2020 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 8.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 42 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2020 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Nissan Altima earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, fuel efficiency, and strong feature content, especially in the base model. They also highlight its smooth ride and the value it offers for the price. In use, it fits well if you want a midsize family sedan with standard all-wheel drive in Canada and easy-to-use tech.

The trade-offs are that it is described as poor value for money, and advanced safety features are not standard. That means you should weigh the equipment level carefully against your budget and the trim you choose.

The market also shows 28.6% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for comfort, fuel efficiency, and a strong feature set that owners feel good about over time. The Altima also comes across as a car you can count on for everyday use, especially if you value a smooth ride and straightforward technology.

Its standard all-wheel drive and broad equipment list add to the sense of durability and confidence in daily driving. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some shoppers may still find the value proposition less compelling than rivals once wear, mileage, and trim content are factored in.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim gives you the essentials, but the higher versions add a much fuller safety and convenience package. If you want the strongest overall value, the mid-range trim is the one to compare most closely against the others.
• Powertrain: Every Canadian 2020 Altima uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for easy drivability and balanced handling rather than outright performance.
• Safety package: ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centring assistance. The base S trim gets forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a driver attention monitor, while other versions add pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, automatic high-beam assistance, road-sign recognition, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch display with Bluetooth, a text-messaging assistant, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Available upgrades include SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, a 9-speaker Bose audio system, and NissanConnect Services.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2020 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2020 Nissan Altima is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you standard all-wheel drive plus the core infotainment and safety basics. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up some of the richer safety equipment found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top model. It is the trim to focus on if you want a more complete Altima experience without paying for the Platinum’s extras.
• Platinum: This is the most upscale version, with 19-inch wheels and the most premium presentation in the lineup. Choose it if you want the most polished Altima and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is more complete on trims above the base S, so that is an important difference to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards comparison shopping more than impulse buying.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 42 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,978 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $19,164 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,878 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Altima is not currently a strong appreciation story for future sellers. If you buy now, you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim content rather than on broad market momentum.

The good news is that lower entry pricing can help you buy in at a more realistic level. If the market stays steady, that can reduce the risk of taking a large depreciation hit in the near term.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2020 Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a driver attention monitor on the base S trim. Higher trims add pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, automatic high-beam assistance, road-sign recognition, and a surround-view camera.

ProPilot Assist adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centring assistance, but it is not universally praised for ease of use. The main caveat is that the base trim does not get the full set of advanced safety features.

Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for standard all-wheel drive in Canada and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,034 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $19,164 CAD average.
• It is a later version of the same generation with ongoing refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter starting point. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for price-insensitive buyers.
