Used 2024 Nissan Altima for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2024 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 15.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 108 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

It remains a practical choice if you want a comfortable, straightforward midsize sedan with an attractive starting price, standard all-wheel drive in Canada, and easy-to-use technology. The trade-offs are clear: performance is pedestrian, material quality is unimpressive, and the Bose stereo is lacking.

With 38.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Altima is presented as a familiar, time-tested sedan that has stayed largely unchanged since 2019, which can be reassuring if you prefer a proven formula. Its standard all-wheel drive in Canada and straightforward mechanical setup also support the sense that it is built for everyday use rather than novelty.

The three-year, 60,000-kilometre limited warranty and five-year, 100,000-kilometre limited powertrain warranty add some ownership protection, and the model’s easygoing nature suggests it should be manageable to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-worn example may show its age in cabin quality and refinement before it shows major mechanical trouble.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim misses ProPilot Assist, while higher trims add more convenience and safety tech. The cabin is comfortable, but you should check whether the features you want are present, since the lower trims are more basic.
• Powertrain: You get a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder with adequate, not exciting, performance. The standard all-wheel-drive system in Canada helps with traction, and fuel use is reasonable for the class.
• Safety package: ProPilot Assist is standard on all Canadian trims except the base S. Standard equipment also includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. The Platinum trim adds a 360-degree surround-view monitor, while traffic-sign recognition is also on SR Premium.
• Infotainment: Most models use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the SR Premium and Platinum get a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available only with the larger screen, and NissanConnect is standard on SR Premium and Platinum.
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima is estimated at 9.1 L/100 km in the city, 6.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 7.9 L/100 km combined. Upper trims with larger wheels use slightly more fuel.

Which 2024 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2024 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SR, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. It gives you the core Altima formula, but it skips ProPilot Assist and some of the nicer convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• SR: This trim adds a sportier look and sits above the base model without pushing you into the pricier tech-focused versions. It suits you if you want a more dressed-up Altima while keeping the price in check.
• SR Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless phone projection, NissanConnect, and traffic-sign recognition. If you want the strongest mix of equipment and value, this is the one to target.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped Altima, adding the 12.3-inch display, NissanConnect, traffic-sign recognition, and the 360-degree surround-view monitor. Choose it if you want the most convenience and the most upscale feature set.

ProPilot Assist is standard on all Canadian trims except the base S.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 108 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,789 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $25,789 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,641 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Altima easier to buy now but less favourable if you are planning to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current softness may limit upside unless your car is especially well equipped or unusually clean.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2024 Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, though it also scores four-star ratings in the overall frontal crash test and driver-side barrier crash test. It received a Top Safety Pick+ designation from the IIHS in 2022, but the 2024 model has not earned that honour because of poor performance in the organisation’s updated side-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. ProPilot Assist is standard on all Canadian trims except the base S, and it combines steering assistance with adaptive cruise control for highway driving and traffic jams. The Platinum trim adds a 360-degree surround-view monitor, while traffic-sign recognition is standard on SR Premium and Platinum.

The main caveat is the updated IIHS side-impact result, which is a meaningful concern if crash protection is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2024 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard AWD in Canada with an attractive starting price and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,711 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $25,789 CAD average.
• It offers practical value, standard AWD, and strong standard features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It adds a new SR Premium trim to help refresh interest in the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, standard AWD, and familiar features, the 2024 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2023 is the better budget-focused alternative.
