The E-Class is positioned as a comfort-focused, refined luxury car with a distinctly modern interior and a broad range of advanced safety and convenience features. Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 E-Class is described as generally well built, with a strong reputation for build quality and a premium feel. That said, some owners have reported shuddering brakes and glitchy infotainment systems, and air suspension should be checked carefully because repairs can be costly. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a luxury car’s repair bills can rise quickly if those known trouble spots show up.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.

If you find a listing below $45,052 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $47,322 CAD sits slightly below last year's $52,872 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more car for the money today, but it also means a future seller may need to price more competitively to stand out. If the market stays balanced, well-kept examples should still attract interest because the E-Class has broad appeal as a premium, comfortable luxury sedan. Strong equipment and a polished cabin can help support demand when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $59,630 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $47,322 CAD average.
• It adds a refreshed infotainment system, updated styling, and revised engines.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the stronger value proposition and a wide pool of listings to compare. If you are willing to spend more for a fresher-feeling update, the 2021 is the better secondary path; if price matters most, the 2020 is the smarter starting point.
