Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core CX-5 premium feel. It suits you if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds key safety upgrades like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
• GT: This trim adds more comfort and convenience, including SiriusXM, a Bose sound system, navigation, and adaptive headlights. It’s a strong choice if you want a more polished daily driver.

• Signature: This is the most luxurious version, with premium materials and a surround-view camera system. It suits you if you want the most upscale CX-5 experience.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it’s worth shopping carefully and comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 427 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.17% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,959 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $23,016 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,910 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly.

At the same time, the CX-5’s premium feel and strong owner satisfaction can help support resale interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes smart city brake support, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. On GS trim, you also get adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

Standard LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers add to the safety story, while adaptive headlights come standard on Grand Touring trim. That said, the strongest safety equipment is not equally spread across every trim, so you should check the exact feature set on any used listing.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year combines premium styling, strong safety, and a more affordable used price.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,370 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $23,016 CAD average.
• It brings enhanced technology and a new Kuro Edition.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for updated tech, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for price-insensitive shoppers.
