How much does the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

There are 573 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, performance, and luxurious features, and many highlight the powerful engines and impressive ride quality. The user feedback also points to the Grand Cherokee’s dependable, long-term appeal and its reputation as a vehicle you can count on.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and the value proposition is weaker than many rivals. Even so, the overview frames it as a strong fit if you want character and capability more than the latest redesign or the best bargain.

Only 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than especially generous.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with strong comfort and performance helping reinforce confidence over time. The expert test drive notes that the Grand Cherokee’s features are effective and useful, which supports the sense that it is a vehicle you can count on.

That said, used buyers should still watch for examples that have been worn hard, since the model’s age and mixed value reputation can make condition and maintenance history especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee’s design still looks right, but lower trims miss some of the premium feel found higher up. The safety content also notes that the Premium Lighting Group is standard in higher trim levels, which matters because the headlights rate poorly without the upgrade.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 3.6-litre V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The performance content also notes available V8 engines, including the 5.7-litre Hemi, 6.4-litre Hemi in the SRT, and supercharged 6.2-litre V8 in the Trackhawk.
• Safety package: Jeep offers ProTech I, ProTech II, and Advanced ProTech II. ProTech I includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: In Limited X trim, Uconnect includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio connected services. A 4G LTE WiFi data plan is available, and some versions can be equipped with a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 returned 11.3 L/100 km in combined driving according to Natural Resources Canada, while the test vehicle recorded 12.1 L/100 km.

Which 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Limited X, Summit, SRT, Trackhawk, and Trailhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core styling and capability without paying for the higher-end equipment.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of equipment and everyday usability, including the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the more upscale appearance touches.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road use matters most, since it is the most off-road capable version and adds all-terrain tires, skid plates, and Jeep’s most capable 4WD system.
• Summit: This is the more luxury-focused choice for shoppers who want a richer feel and are willing to pay for it.
• SRT: Pick this if you want the performance-oriented V8 experience and the associated performance-focused hardware.
• Trackhawk: This is the extreme performance choice, with the supercharged V8 and the most serious straight-line capability in the lineup.

The safety content notes that ProTech I is standard on all trim levels, while Premium Lighting Group is standard in higher trim levels.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should be able to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 573 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,538 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $25,538 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,706 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you own one in strong condition with desirable equipment, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

The market still appears to value the Grand Cherokee’s character and capability, but resale will depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers three different collections of advanced driving assistance systems for the 2020 Grand Cherokee. ProTech I is standard on all trim levels and includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The main caveat is the crash-test performance: IIHS gives the Grand Cherokee a Marginal rating for driver protection and a Poor rating for front passenger protection in the small overlap frontal-impact test, and the headlights rate Poor unless you upgrade.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the familiar formula with strong off-road capability and a decade-old design.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,142 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,538 CAD average.
• It is the final version before the redesign arrives.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better value if you want the classic Grand Cherokee formula at a lower price, especially if you care about capability and are willing to accept its age. If you want the newer model-year position and can spend more, the 2021 is the alternative to consider.
