Is the 2020 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, and owners consistently praise its great value, smooth ride, and abundance of features. It also gets strong marks for its safety features and comfortable interior, with many drivers comparing it favourably to rivals like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a well-equipped midsize sedan with standout styling, lots of tech, and plenty of room for passengers and cargo. 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 104 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.81% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,697 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $18,802 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,816 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you may be better positioned to absorb future depreciation. The Sonata’s strong feature content and broad appeal should help it remain attractive to used shoppers, especially if you keep it in good condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,865 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $18,802 CAD average.
• It adds a more performance-focused N Line option.

The bottom line: If you want the best value, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and owner satisfaction is excellent. If you’re willing to pay a bit more for a more performance-oriented setup, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
