Used 2020 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearToronto, ON

How much does the 2020 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 13.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 341 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its fun driving experience, responsive handling, stylish design, and good features. The user feedback also points to fuel efficiency as a plus. In practical terms, that lines up well with the Kona’s appeal as a small crossover that feels lively and well equipped for everyday use.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin uses hard plastics, and cargo space is limited. It suits you best if you want a small crossover with strong personality and enjoyable road manners more than maximum space or interior polish.

Only 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as dependable, with good features and a driving experience they can count on. The expert assessment also points to strong overall execution in the way it drives and handles, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.

Hyundai’s maintenance and warranty reputation can help reduce ownership stress, but the Kona’s cramped cabin and value-focused positioning mean you should still inspect wear carefully on used examples. For long-term buyers, condition and service history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, proximity entry, heated front seats, and heated side mirrors. Higher trims add a sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, while the top trim also gets lane-centring capability.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre inline-four with 147 hp and a 6-speed automatic. Higher trims use a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four with 175 hp and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard with the turbo.
• Safety package: The Kona includes forward emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor as standard equipment. Pedestrian detection is limited to the Ultimate trim, and the model does not include front knee airbags or rear side airbags.
• Infotainment: Base models use a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Higher trims add an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation.

Which 2020 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2020 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Trend, Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point if you want the Kona’s core features at the lowest price, including the 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, heated front seats, and heated side mirrors.
• Preferred: This trim adds useful everyday equipment while staying closer to the lower end of the range, making it a sensible value choice if you want more comfort without stretching too far.
• Trend: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, standard all-wheel drive, and the features most drivers will want.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want the more upscale equipment set, including the sunroof and adaptive cruise control.

The safety package includes forward emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor as standard equipment across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 341 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,287 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $17,289 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,973 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Kona is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you plan to sell later, the current market indicates you may need to price competitively to move the vehicle quickly.

The good news is that the Kona’s strong styling and enjoyable driving character help keep it appealing to used shoppers. That can support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2020 Kona scored five out of five stars overall in crash tests approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with maximum ratings for driver and passenger in the frontal test and for driver and rear passenger in the side test. It scored four out of five stars in the rollover risk test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated the Kona a 2020 Top Safety Pick for scoring the top Good rating in six crash tests, the optional LED headlights, and the top Superior rating for forward emergency braking.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward emergency braking comes standard on every Kona, along with lane-keep assist and a driver attention monitor. Pedestrian detection is only for the Ultimate trim. Unlike some competitors, the Kona does not come with any front knee airbags or rear side airbags.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new trim level and more standard driver assists.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,770 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,289 CAD average.
• It offers several trims and a stronger value-forward positioning.

The bottom line: If you want the better price right now, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the secondary path for shoppers who want a broader trim range.
