Is the 2023 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Kona earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. It stands out for its refreshed styling, larger infotainment touchscreen, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and adaptive cruise control that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. If you want a subcompact SUV with more personality than a basic commuter and a strong equipment list for the money, this model year fits that brief well. The market also shows 29.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Kona’s appeal comes from its refreshed first-generation design, updated technology, and available turbocharged performance, all of which support confidence in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the cabin can feel cramped and cargo space is limited, so practicality may be the bigger concern than the core ownership experience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Kona?

It looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 543 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,279 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $23,318 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,346 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Kona has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than last year. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, though resale gains could be more modest if prices stay near current levels. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,192 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,318 CAD average.
• It adds a refreshed look and more performance-focused variants.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,464 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,318 CAD average.
• It brings a new generation with updated tech and a more modern design.

The bottom line: The 2023 Kona is the best fit if you want a well-equipped, personality-driven small SUV at a softer price than the newer generation. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest design and technology, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
