How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 10.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 709 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda CR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, excellent features, and strong performance, and they also highlight the advanced technology and safety features offered at a fair price. The CR-V’s broad appeal comes through in its comfortable, practical character, which suits you well if you want a compact SUV that is easy to live with every day. The main trade-offs are its outdated technology and interior materials that can feel cheap.

With 29.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the CR-V’s long-term usefulness and strong overall satisfaction. The expert assessment also reinforces that sense of durability by describing it as a familiar, well-sorted crossover that has had its wrinkles smoothed out over time. Honda’s new drivetrain for 2020 also helps make the CR-V a stronger value proposition for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether the trim you choose gives you the equipment and technology you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the least expensive way in, but it misses some of the nicer touches found higher up the range. Sport adds 19-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, blind-spot display, a moonroof, and a 12-way power driver’s seat, while EX-L brings leather upholstery, heated rear outboard seats, wood-look inserts, and SiriusXM satellite radio capability. Touring and Black Edition add more luxury touches, but they cost more and are less compelling value-wise.
• Powertrain: Every grade uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. It is tuned for smooth, fuel-efficient everyday driving rather than outright excitement.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Automatic high beams are also standard. Blind-spot monitoring starts on Sport trims, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is limited to Touring and Black Edition.
• Infotainment: The standard 7-inch touchscreen is small by current standards, and the system can be awkward to use. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but the interface still feels dated. Touring and Black Edition add navigation and a wireless phone charger.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 7.7 L/100 km combined, while AWD models are rated at 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the least compelling choice if you want the best mix of equipment and value. It gives you the CR-V basics, standard Honda Sensing, and the core fuel-efficient powertrain, but it leaves out blind-spot monitoring and the more appealing comfort upgrades.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a meaningful set of upgrades for the money, including 19-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, blind-spot display, a moonroof, and a 12-way power driver’s seat. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• EX-L: This trim is the right pick if you want a more upscale cabin without jumping all the way to the top of the range. Leather upholstery, heated rear outboard seats, wood-look inserts, and SiriusXM satellite radio make it feel more premium.
• Touring: This is the choice if you want the most convenience features, including navigation, a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic moonroof, upgraded blind-spot monitoring, and LED headlights.
• Black Edition: This is the most fully loaded version, but it is mainly for shoppers who want the extra cosmetic upgrades and top-end equipment rather than the strongest value.

Honda Sensing is standard across the range, but blind-spot monitoring starts on Sport and rear cross-traffic monitoring is reserved for Touring and Black Edition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 709 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,102 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,102 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,118 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. The year-round range suggests there is still room for prices to move around, so condition, mileage, and trim will matter a lot when you eventually resell. Strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA, including five stars in the frontal crash test, five in the side crash, and four stars in the rollover test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Automatic high beams are also standard. Blind-spot monitoring starts on Sport trims, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is limited to Touring and Black Edition.

One caveat is that IIHS noted marginal headlight performance on trims below Touring, so the Touring and Black Edition are the safer bet if nighttime visibility matters to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 brings engine and safety upgrades that improve fuel efficiency and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $22,115 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $25,102 CAD average.
• It is a refined, roomy choice with a strong reputation for reliability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,852 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,102 CAD average.
• It is a broadly appealing, proven compact SUV with strong owner praise for safety and space.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and updated value, the 2020 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2019 is the better budget path; if you want to compare against a newer model with similar appeal, the 2021 is worth a look.
