Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — 4.3/5 is a strong user rating for this truck. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, advanced technology, strong performance, smooth ride, and the range of options available. For you, that means it can work well whether you want a more comfort-focused daily driver or a truck with broader capability and trim choice. 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, with satisfaction built around its overall ownership experience. At the same time, some owners reported engine-related concerns, including oil burning and recalls, so you should still inspect service history carefully. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but only if you choose a well-maintained example.

What is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $36,677 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,531 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you can still protect value reasonably well. The softer pricing also means future resale will depend more on trim, condition, and maintenance history than on broad market momentum.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,554 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $36,677 CAD average.
• It adds a more refined presentation with unique features like an optional carbon-fibre composite cargo bed.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and a wider pool of discounted listings. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2020 is the smarter starting point; if you want a slightly newer truck with a few extra touches and can stretch your budget, the 2021 is worth a look.
