Used 2020 Ford Ranger for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2020 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 11.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 187 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Ranger earns a 4.79/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, enjoyable driving experience, comfortable ride, sufficient power, and high-quality features. In use, that lines up well with the Ranger’s practical role as a midsize pickup that can handle towing, hauling, and weekend chores without feeling purely utilitarian.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin materials feel cheap, and the back seat can feel tight for taller passengers. It also suits you best if you want capability and tech more than plush comfort or a soft-riding daily driver.

Only 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers’ feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with comments that align with the truck’s strong value and enjoyable driving character. The Ranger’s powertrain is described as punchy and capable, which supports confidence in day-to-day use and longer-term ownership.

Ford also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck with this much capability can still carry the usual wear-and-tear concerns, so service history matters.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is sparse, with vinyl floors, manual air conditioning, steel wheels, and basic cabin materials. The XLT is the best-value choice because it adds 17-inch aluminium wheels, body-colour bumpers, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, SYNC 3, and Ford CoPilot360. The Lariat adds leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, ambient lighting, and more upscale exterior touches.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard 4WD in Canada. It is punchy at low speeds and on the highway, and it can tow up to 3,401 kilograms when properly equipped.
• Safety package: Ford CoPilot360 includes automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It is optional on the XL and standard on other grades, so base-trim shoppers should verify equipment carefully.
• Infotainment: The XL gets a basic stereo with Bluetooth and a USB port, plus FordPass Connect with remote start, remote locking and unlocking, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The XLT upgrades to SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice-activated navigation, and pinch-to-zoom functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 11.8 L/100 km in the city, 9.8 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Ranger is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most affordable way into the Ranger, but it is very basic. You get the core truck hardware and FordPass Connect, yet the cabin and infotainment setup are stripped down. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and plan to add only the essentials.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim. It adds the equipment most shoppers will notice every day, including SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and Ford CoPilot360. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
• Lariat: This is the upscale choice, with leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, ambient lighting, and available premium audio. Choose it if you want the Ranger to feel more polished and you are willing to pay for it.

Ford CoPilot360 is optional on the XL and standard on the XLT and Lariat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 187 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.76% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,070 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $30,070 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,078 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Ranger is more accessible to you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. The current range still shows healthy demand, though, especially for shoppers who want a midsize truck with strong capability and modern tech.

Because the Ranger has a clear value proposition and broad appeal, it should remain easier to move than a less desirable used truck. Still, if you buy at the top of the range, your resale upside will be more limited than it was a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger safe?

The Ranger earns Good scores in the IIHS driver’s side small-overlap, moderate-overlap, side, and roof-strength crash tests, and it earns four-star ratings in front passenger side testing and three-star ratings in rollover crash testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford CoPilot360 includes automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. That is a solid standard safety suite on most trims, but it is optional on the XL, so base-trim shoppers should confirm the equipment list carefully.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard on the entry-level trim, and the rollover result is weaker than the rest of the crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends strong towing and hauling ability with useful tech and a punchy turbocharged engine.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $27,228 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $30,070 CAD average.
• It returned the Ranger to North America with a strong value proposition.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the better-balanced used buy, especially if you value capability, tech, and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is simply spending less up front, the 2019 is the more price-sensitive path and still delivers the Ranger’s core appeal.
