Used 2020 Ford Ranger for Sale near British Columbia

How much does the 2020 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 12.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 190 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Ranger earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its great value, enjoyable driving experience, comfortable ride, sufficient power, and high-quality features. That lines up well with the Ranger’s use case as a midsize pickup that can handle towing, hauling, and weekend chores without feeling purely utilitarian.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin materials feel cheap, and the back seat can feel tight for taller passengers. Even so, the Ranger’s capability, tech, and practical truck mission make it a strong fit if you want a versatile pickup rather than a luxury-focused one.

Only 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers’ feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with strong value and enjoyable day-to-day use coming through in the summary. The expert assessment also describes the Ranger as a balanced truck that does what is asked of it without falling below average in key areas.

That said, used buyers should still check service history carefully, especially because this model year has a recall tied to the ten-speed automatic transmission.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the most basic version, with vinyl floors, manual air conditioning, cloth upholstery, and manually adjustable front seats. The XLT adds the most meaningful everyday upgrades, including 17-inch aluminium wheels, body-colour bumpers, remote keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and SYNC 3. The Lariat brings leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, and ambient cabin lighting.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard 4WD in Canada. It is punchy at low speeds and on the highway, and it can tow up to 3,401 kilograms when properly equipped.
• Safety package: Ford CoPilot360 includes automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It is optional on the XL and standard on higher grades. The XLT can also be equipped with a Technology Package that adds forward parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and navigation.
• Infotainment: The XL gets a basic setup with Bluetooth, a USB port, and FordPass Connect with remote lock/unlock, remote start, and Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The XLT upgrades to SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and available voice-activated navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates consumption at 11.8 L/100 km in the city, 9.8 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Ranger is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value-focused starting point, but it is very basic inside and out. You get the core Ranger capability, FordPass Connect, and the standard safety hardware, but you give up a lot of comfort and convenience equipment.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the features that make the Ranger feel much more complete, including SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and more useful exterior equipment.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale Ranger experience. It adds leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, ambient lighting, and an available premium sound system.

Ford CoPilot360 is optional on the XL and standard on the other trims, so safety-minded buyers may want to avoid the base model unless it is equipped accordingly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Ranger?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and some room to negotiate if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,820 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $29,820 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,933 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Ranger has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract interest if the market stays active. At the same time, the softer pricing means resale upside may be more limited than it was a year ago.

Strong demand for a capable midsize pickup should still help support values, especially for well-equipped examples with desirable features and clean histories. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Ranger safe?

The Ranger earns Good scores in the IIHS small-overlap driver-side, moderate-overlap, side, and roof-strength crash tests, and it earns Superior for vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention technology. It also earns Advanced for pedestrian-sensing tech. In NHTSA testing, it earns four-star ratings in front passenger side and rollover crash testing, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford CoPilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite on all but the base XL, where it is optional. It includes automatic headlights, automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The available Technology Package on the XLT adds forward parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and navigation.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the Ranger’s advanced safety features are not standard on the entry trim, so you should verify equipment carefully on used examples.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong towing ability, useful tech, and a balanced midsize-truck package.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $27,210 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $29,820 CAD average.
• It returned the Ranger to North America with a strong value proposition and a simple, appealing powertrain.

The bottom line: The 2020 Ranger is the better pick if you want the stronger all-around used-truck package and are comfortable paying a bit more for it. If your priority is saving money first, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers the Ranger’s core appeal.
