Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.2/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners most often praise its comfort, fuel economy, and value for money, and the model’s roomy interior makes it a practical fit if you want an everyday compact SUV with useful space and a sensible price. That said, some shoppers may still weigh the lower-trim feature content and modest performance against those strengths. With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market choice if you want to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable for daily use, with comfort and value helping support confidence over time. The broader model guidance also describes this generation as having a more reliable reputation than earlier versions, which is encouraging if you want a used SUV you can count on. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright reliability and more about choosing a well-maintained example that matches your expectations for power and interior quality.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before committing.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $17,485 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,234 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Equinox has become more accessible on the used market, which can help you buy at a lower entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should stay realistic unless the vehicle is especially well equipped, lightly used, or exceptionally well maintained. The model’s practical appeal and broad shopper interest should still support demand, but the recent softening shows that pricing discipline matters.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better fit if you want a roomy, practical compact SUV with a strong value story and you can take advantage of today’s softer pricing. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth comparing, but the 2020 stands out as a sensible buy when comfort, safety, and affordability matter most.
