CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Chevrolet Colorado
Summary
With 14 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,830 CAD, 35.7% of 2020 Chevrolet Colorado listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that balances everyday usability with real capability. It offers a good blend of comfort and utility, and Chevrolet’s lineup gives buyers a range of powertrains and trims to suit different needs. For shoppers who want a truck that can do more than basic commuting, the Colorado’s towing strength and available off-road hardware are major draws.
For 2020, the WT became the entry-level trim and came with a four-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch colour touchscreen, front, side, and side curtain airbags, electronic stability control and traction control, manual folding mirrors, a locking tailgate, the corner-step rear bumper, and black mouldings. The LT added chrome exterior trim, 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, and remote keyless entry. Higher up, the Z71 brought an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tyres, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging, while the ZR2 added even more serious off-road equipment.
There are trade-offs, though. The Colorado’s second generation has a reputation for transmission issues, and the base four-cylinder and WT trims are not the strongest choices in the range. Even so, the 2020 Colorado remains appealing because it offers good value, useful equipment, and a stronger mix of performance and brawn in its mid-range and higher trims.

This truck has more bells and whistles than the one I traded. Gotta get used to those. Not fond of the mirrors not being electric, but I can get past that. It has a couple of deep scratches in the paint that can be fixed. Based on the overall price I’m paying, I’m satisfied.

I got a great value on this vehicle from an individual. That is the main reason for buying it, although I had seen the reviews about it being a great vehicle. It is not a smooth ride - I call it rough and ready. But it gets around 23 mpg on average. It has a V6 and an automatic transmission. I wish it came with Sirius XM radio, but I can use Android Auto and the app on my phone to listen to my favorite XM stations.

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,851 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $26,709 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $32,079 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $30,249 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.93% |
Prices have softened 7.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 118 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?
Yes — 4.67/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that balances everyday usability with real capability, and it gives you a good blend of comfort and utility. If you want a truck that can do more than basic commuting, its towing strength and available off-road hardware are major draws. With 22.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2020 Colorado does have a reputation for transmission issues, and the base four-cylinder and WT trims are not the strongest choices in the range. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully, especially if you are considering a lower-spec example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Colorado?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 118 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $26,709 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?
The current average of $27,851 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,249 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Colorado’s broad appeal as a capable midsize pickup should still help support demand when you eventually resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.93% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2020 Colorado is a sensible choice if you want a midsize pickup with real utility, useful equipment, and a good mix of comfort and capability. If you are price-sensitive, the softer market and decent deal availability make this year worth a close look, but you should still prioritise well-maintained examples and avoid the weakest trims if you want the best ownership experience.
