The Chevrolet Colorado has consistently impressed owners with its balance of performance, comfort, and versatility across its model years. Many drivers highlight its smooth ride, good towing capability, and spacious interior, making it suitable for both families and work use. However, some common criticisms include cramped rear seating in certain models, cabin noise, and a wish for improved technology features. Overall, the Colorado is favored for its capable engines and good gas mileage, although some drivers have noted concerns regarding build quality and feature set, especially in lower trims.

Looks good in the pictures. When I went to go check it out, I found a rust hole in the frame (drivers side in front of the rear wheel). Also, someone had sprayed spray foam into the rockers, sanded it down, then painted over it. The undercarriage was coated with protection, but only after it started rusting. When I brought it up to the dealership they passed it off as "typical mn rust." A hole in the frame is not "typical." In my opinion, this truck is priced about $7,000 above what it's truly worth and the dealership has no interest in negotiating.

I really like the exterior aesthetic of this truck. It has an aggressive front-end styling and some key features to allow for some mild off-roading with no major modifications needed. Interior is very nice too, with leather seats and ZR2 badging on headrests. I can’t wait to drive it!

The Colorado trail boss is a fantastic vehicle. Plenty of power, especially for a 4 cylinder motor. No trouble at all keeping up with or moving past traffic. The over 11 inch screen is awesome. The truck looks stout and like a beast. Plenty of room in the back seat. Love this little beast!

Why it stands out
The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that leans hard into capability without losing everyday usability. It offers a good blend of comfort and utility, and Chevrolet’s own summary points to a selection of capable powertrains and up to 3,500 kilograms of towing capacity. That combination helps explain why the Colorado has long appealed to buyers who want a truck that can work hard but still feel manageable in daily driving.
For 2022, the Colorado is part of the second generation, which brought a more modern cabin and broader equipment than the earlier truck. In this model year, the WT became the entry-level trim and came with a four-way power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch colour touchscreen, front, side, and side curtain airbags, electronic stability control and traction control, manual folding mirrors, a locking tailgate, the corner-step rear bumper, and black mouldings. Higher trims added more comfort and convenience, while the Z71 brought an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tyres, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging. The ZR2 sat at the top of the range with serious off-road hardware, including Multimatic DSSV Damping System, increased ground clearance and track width, a spray-on bedliner, and larger all-terrain tyres.
There are also some clear trade-offs. The second generation’s early transmission problems are a known concern, and the model’s active safety systems were not as comprehensive as Toyota’s offerings in the same era. The user feedback also suggests that while the Colorado is generally appreciated for smooth performance, towing ability, and interior space, the rear seat can feel cramped for adults. Even so, the 2022 Colorado remains appealing because it delivers strong capability, useful trim differentiation, and a well-rounded mix of performance and practicality.
