Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.2/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its reliability, solid performance, and features, and many also value its longevity and resale value. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize truck with durability and off-road ability rather than a full-size pickup. Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability, longevity, and a truck that many owners feel they can count on over time. That kind of reputation matters if you plan to keep your used truck for the long haul. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is paying a premium for that reputation and then inheriting a truck that may still need careful inspection for wear and previous use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with a clear target and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 20.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,501 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $37,820 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,715 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more strategically today, but it also suggests future sellers may not see the same peak pricing environment that supported earlier resale strength. Even so, the Tacoma’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction should continue to support demand. If you keep mileage and condition in check, you should still have a truck that appeals to used buyers later on.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 20.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $40,303 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $37,820 CAD average.
• It adds useful design and technology updates.

The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want a slightly lower entry price and still value the Tacoma’s core strengths. If you are price-sensitive, the 2019 is the better shopping target; if you want the newer model-year updates and can stretch your budget, the 2020 is worth a look.
