Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Drivers commonly praise its reliability, solid performance, and features, and many also value its longevity and resale strength. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize truck with durability, off-road ability, and long-term value rather than the most refined cabin or the lowest price. The market also shows 30.2% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability, longevity, and a truck that many owners feel they can count on over time. That kind of reputation matters if you want a used truck that should be dependable for years rather than just cheap to buy today. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying a premium for a truck that can still feel cramped and underpowered in everyday use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with patience and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,504 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $37,890 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,763 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale may not have as much room to climb from today’s level. Even so, the Tacoma’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction should continue to support demand when you eventually sell. If you keep the truck in good condition, its value should remain comparatively resilient versus many other used pickups.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $40,100 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $37,890 CAD average.
• It adds updated design and technology while keeping the Tacoma’s rugged character.

The bottom line: Buy the 2019 if you want the better value play and are comfortable with its compromises. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer truck with updated tech, the 2020 is the cleaner upgrade; if price matters most, the 2019 remains the smarter buy.
