Used 2019 Ford Ranger for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2019 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 14.59% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 111 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 owner-rated truck with an expert score of 7.17/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its robust performance, advanced technology, and good fuel economy. You also get strong towing capacity and a responsive engine, which fits the Ranger’s straightforward midsize-pickup use case well.

With its mix of price and power, it makes the most sense if you want a capable truck without a complicated powertrain lineup. Good and great deals account for 34.2% of listings, which is a decent sign that value-minded shoppers can still find opportunities.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels robust, dependable, and good for long-term use. Reviewers also highlight its trouble-free character in everyday driving, along with strong towing ability and responsive engine behaviour.

On the expert side, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost is described as a stout, eager engine, and the transmission is presented as a proven unit used in many applications. Ford’s cost-effectiveness commentary also reinforces the Ranger’s appeal as a capable, value-focused pickup.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some production flaws and a recall history deserve a careful pre-purchase check.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Ranger?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is the most stripped-down version, with steel 16-inch wheels, a manual-locking tailgate, cloth upholstery, and a four-speaker stereo, but it still includes a rear-view camera, USB port, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, so you should decide whether the extra equipment is worth the jump.
• Powertrain: You get a single 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It’s described as strong and eager, with good fuel economy and solid towing ability, but the transmission can feel reluctant unless you use Sport mode.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 adds auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer tow monitoring, lane-keep warning and assist, forward and reverse parking sensors, and a 110-volt power outlet. The base XL already includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, but the broader suite is a useful upgrade.
• Infotainment: The XL gets Bluetooth, a rear-view camera, USB, and an Aux jack. Above that, Sync 3 unlocks Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM, while the available 8-inch touchscreen and 4G Wi-Fi hotspot make higher trims more appealing.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 10.9 L/100 km combined, 11.8 L/100 km in the city, and 9.8 L/100 km on the highway.

Which 2019 Ford Ranger trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford Ranger is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with a basic cabin. It still gives you useful standard equipment, including 4WD in Canada, a rear-view camera, and forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a better balance of comfort and tech, including a 4.2-inch centre screen, a six-speaker stereo, and the ability to add Sync 3 with smartphone integration.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale Ranger in this lineup, with leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen, LED lighting, and 18-inch alloys.

The safety package is strongest once you add Ford Co-Pilot360, so it’s worth prioritizing trims or packages that include it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, especially if you’re comparing listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,226 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $27,228 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,879 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the current average, you’re starting from a lower baseline than owners were a year ago.

For resale, the Ranger’s strong capability and value positioning should still help it attract interest. But the softer pricing trend means sellers may need to be more realistic when listing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford Ranger safe?

The 2019 Ford Ranger with 4WD earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates it Good in most tests, with Acceptable in the passenger-side small front-overlap test and Marginal headlights.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s available safety systems include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and the Co-Pilot360 package adds auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and trailer tow monitoring, lane-keep warning and assist, and forward and reverse parking sensors. The base XL includes some useful safety tech, but the broader suite is a meaningful step up.

The weaker headlight result and the less-than-perfect pedestrian front-crash-prevention performance are the main caveats to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It returns with a simple single-engine setup and strong value focus.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,070 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,228 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished blend of capability and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is available. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
