Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.22/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, longevity, and a truck that owners feel they can count on over time. That kind of reputation matters if you want a used pickup with a strong track record for dependable ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying a premium for that reputation, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 142 listings available.

The current average of $38,148 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,032 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tacoma has eased a bit from its prior peak, but not enough to undermine its broader value story. If you buy well now, you may still benefit from the model's strong reputation when it comes time to sell. The key is that demand tends to stay healthy for trucks with a loyal following, especially when they are known for durability and resale strength.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.22/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.22/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $40,170 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $38,148 CAD average.
• It adds minor design and technology updates for a more modern feel.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better starting point if you want the stronger value proposition and are comfortable shopping carefully within the current market. If you want a newer truck and are willing to pay more for incremental updates, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
