Is the 2019 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, smooth performance, visibility, comfort, and all-wheel drive capability, which makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly compact SUV. The Forester’s everyday usability and all-weather confidence fit well if you value practicality over flash. Is the 2019 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centred on comfort, safety, and all-wheel drive confidence. That kind of reputation matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily driving and family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and that any connectivity or transmission-related concerns have been addressed.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 213 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,918 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $21,818 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,594 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can be helpful if you are buying now but may mean less upside if you plan to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing trend means you should expect resale value to track the broader market rather than jump sharply. Even so, a model with strong owner satisfaction can stay attractive to future shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact SUV that prioritises comfort, safety, visibility, and all-weather usability, the 2019 Forester is the primary year to target. If your main goal is stretching your budget, you can also compare nearby years for a lower entry price, but the 2019 stands out as a balanced choice with strong owner approval and decent deal availability.
