This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 234 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.98% compared with last year.

The current average of $21,875 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,267 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy now, you are starting from a lower price base than last year, which can help limit depreciation exposure. Strong owner satisfaction can also support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of owner satisfaction, current pricing, and practical everyday usability, the 2019 is a sensible place to focus your search. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2019’s stronger market position.
