CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 403 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,565 CAD, 31.5% of 2019 Ford Edge listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that still puts family usefulness first. Ford’s own test-drive notes say it feels dated in some respects, but it delivers the backseat legroom and cargo space that buyers need. That combination makes it appealing if space matters more to you than the latest design trends.
It also has a more performance-focused side, since Ford offers the 2019 Edge with an ST trim that adds speed and performance to the same practical package. That gives the Edge a broader appeal than a typical family SUV, especially for buyers who want something comfortable for commuting and long trips but still a little more engaging to drive. Owner feedback generally supports that balance, with praise for its performance, comfort, features, spacious interior, and strong power.
There are trade-offs, though. The same source that praises its usefulness also describes it as dated in some respects, and some owners mention sluggish acceleration and missing features such as automatic side mirrors. Even so, the 2019 Ford Edge remains distinctive for blending everyday space and comfort with an available performance-oriented character.

Love this SUV. More space than the Escape and plenty more power(V6). More features than the escape. Excellent vehicle!

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

How much does the 2019 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,561 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $17,429 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $21,281 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $21,280 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −17.47% |
Prices have softened 17.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 401 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, spacious interior, strong power, and useful feature set. That lines up well with its role as a midsize, two-row SUV that puts family usefulness first, especially if you care more about backseat room and cargo space than the newest styling trends. It also has a broader appeal because Ford offers an ST trim that adds speed and performance to the same practical package.
With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its performance, comfort, and features. Reviewers also highlight the spacious interior and strong power, which supports the idea that it can be a trouble-free family hauler when properly maintained. Ford’s performance notes also describe the standard turbocharged engine as one that “gets the job done and won’t let you down,” reinforcing the sense that the Edge is built for long-term use.
If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the dated cabin and missing features will bother you over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and a basic 4.2-inch non-touchscreen infotainment setup. The SEL adds roof rails, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, and available heated steering wheel and sunroof, while the Titanium brings leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and a premium sound system. The ST adds blacked-out styling, 20-inch wheels, upgraded exhaust, leather seating, ambient lighting, and available dual-panel moonroof plus heated and cooled front seats.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The ST uses a 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft, and it is tuned for much stronger acceleration.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centreing.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen display with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version uses 10.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.0 on the highway, and 9.6 combined. AWD raises that to 11.4 city, 8.3 highway, and 10.0 combined. The ST uses 12.6 L/100 km city, 9.2 highway, and 11.0 combined.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the least expensive way into the Edge, but it also has the most basic infotainment setup and misses the richer convenience features found higher up. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the simpler cabin tech.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds heated front seats, rear parking sensors, roof rails, and access to the better 8-inch Sync 3 system. It also lines up with the recommended trim for Canada.
- Titanium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel, with leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and the premium audio system as standard.
- ST: Pick this if you want the performance-focused version, with the twin-turbo V6, stronger acceleration, and the sportier appearance and equipment to match.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on trims above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 401 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.47% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,429 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $17,561 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,280 CAD.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. A softer price environment usually means future resale gains may be limited unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. For a seller, the key is to buy at the right price and maintain the vehicle carefully so you’re not competing from a weak starting point.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
The 2019 Ford Edge earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centreing.
The main caveat is that IIHS noted lacklustre headlight performance, which is why the Edge’s otherwise strong safety showing is not quite perfect.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 17.47% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It blends family space with an available ST performance trim.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $20,053 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,561 CAD average.
- It keeps the latest infotainment and safety tech while adding a more up-to-date feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it delivers the same core practicality at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and updated tech presentation, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative.
