This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 447 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.12% compared with last year.

The current average of $15,854 CAD sits slightly below last year's $18,900 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than before. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year's level. The model's broad appeal should still help support demand, especially among shoppers who want space and comfort in a compact SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the newer seven-seat layout, a more modern cabin, and a used price that has come down meaningfully. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better fit when you want a more spacious, more refined Tiguan without moving up in size.
