How much does the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Generally — the 4.4/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV. Owners consistently praise its driving experience, interior quality, and value for the price, and many also like its smooth ride. That fits the Tiguan’s role as a compact SUV for you if you want something more polished and car-like than a rugged utility-first choice. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling driving experience, with praise for its smooth ride and overall day-to-day usability. At the same time, the model’s history includes concerns around the panoramic sunroof and other problem areas, so you should treat a used example as a vehicle where condition and maintenance history matter. For long-term ownership, that means your risk is more about finding a well-kept example than assuming every Tiguan will age the same way.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 216 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,693 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $10,707 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,716 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Tiguan easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger hit later. The model’s premium-leaning appeal and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Tiguan makes sense if you want a compact SUV with a more premium feel, a smooth drive, and strong owner approval, especially if you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are more price-sensitive, you should focus on the best-maintained examples rather than chasing the newest or highest-priced listings, since condition matters a lot with this model.
