Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its off-road capability, reliability, style, and durability, while also noting that it suits buyers who want a tough SUV rather than a soft-road crossover. In Canada, its standard four-wheel drive and body-on-frame design make it a strong fit if you want genuine all-terrain ability and long-lasting utility. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary highlights reliability, durability, and long-lasting construction, with many owners describing it as a vehicle they can count on. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used SUV that should hold up well over time, especially when the model’s appeal is tied to ruggedness and dependable ownership rather than novelty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the 4Runner’s core toughness and more about accepting its age-related compromises in refinement and efficiency.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $38,170 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,253 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can ask in the short term. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when you eventually resell it. If you buy well now, you may be better positioned to recover a solid share of your purchase price later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a sensible choice if you want the 4Runner’s rugged character, standard four-wheel drive, and strong owner approval without paying peak-market pricing. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains a solid pick when you want a proven, long-lasting SUV with real off-road ability.
