Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 4.54/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. You get a body-on-frame midsize SUV with standard four-wheel drive in Canada, which makes it a fit if you want real off-road ability rather than a softer, road-focused crossover. Owners also consistently praise its off-road capability, reliability, style, and durability, while the straightforward equipment and proven mechanical setup add to its appeal. With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability, durability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, which aligns with the 4Runner’s reputation for being something you can count on over the long term. That said, you should still check maintenance records and inspect for signs of hard use, since used examples may have lived a more demanding life than a typical SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 119 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,051 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $38,525 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,263 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to be realistic on asking price. Even so, the 4Runner’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for durability help support demand. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should still have a solid chance of holding value better than many mainstream SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the 4Runner’s traditional SUV character, standard 4WD, and proven durability, especially if off-road ability matters more to you than modern road manners. If you are more price-sensitive, you can also use the softer market to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
