Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.54/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its off-road capability, reliability, style, and durability, while also noting that it suits buyers who want a traditional, body-on-frame SUV rather than a softer crossover. That makes it a strong fit if you value rugged construction, standard four-wheel drive in Canada, and a proven setup over modern-road refinement. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market choice if you want to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, durability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, which aligns with the 4Runner’s reputation for being dependable over the long term. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the vehicle was used, since a rugged SUV can face more demanding wear if it spent time off-road or towing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 123 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,039 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $38,223 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,896 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may need to be realistic about asking prices if the market stays competitive. The 4Runner’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for durability should continue to support demand, especially among shoppers who want a traditional SUV with real off-road ability. Even so, resale value will depend on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the 4Runner’s rugged character, standard 4WD, and proven durability, especially if you value off-road ability over modern-road refinement. If you are more price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years and focusing on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
