Is the 2018 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The combination of strong satisfaction and a reputation for being easy to live with suggests this is a model you can count on for regular use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly, especially if you want to avoid surprises from prior wear and tear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 244 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,651 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $16,653 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,313 CAD.

That softer pricing can be helpful if you're buying now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited unless the market strengthens. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should expect a more value-focused market rather than a rapid appreciation story.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Forester makes the most sense if you want a practical, spacious, all-wheel-drive SUV and you value current pricing that has eased from last year. If you are price-sensitive, this is a good year to target; if you want to compare across nearby years, focus on whichever model year gives you the best combination of condition, maintenance history, and asking price.
