• Inventory: There are 245 listings available.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at today’s average or below, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The Forester’s practical appeal and steady demand should help support resale interest, especially among shoppers who value space and all-weather capability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Forester is the better fit if you want a practical, roomy SUV with strong owner approval and a market that currently favours patient shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is a solid primary target when you want a well-liked, easy-to-live-with Forester.
