Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

What is the 2018 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $19,137 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,435 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can work against short-term resale gains if you plan to sell soon. At the same time, the CX-5’s strong owner satisfaction helps support demand, which can make it easier to move on later than a less-liked competitor. If you buy well now, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation pressure over your ownership period.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a smart choice if you want the newer second-generation CX-5 feel, strong owner approval, and a market that is currently a bit softer on pricing. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains the better all-round pick if you value the more polished cabin and strong driving manners.
