Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and it lines up with the way owners describe it: smooth ride, luxurious interior, powerful performance, and elegant styling. If you want a refined used luxury car that leans into comfort, technology, and prestige rather than sharp handling, this E-Class fits that brief well. Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience overall, with many drivers describing the car as trouble-free in day-to-day use and appreciating its long-term appeal. At the same time, some owners mention higher maintenance costs after the warranty period, so used buyers should budget for the possibility of more expensive upkeep over time.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 145 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.02% compared with last year.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $35,756 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,495 CAD.

That softer pricing can be helpful if you’re buying now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect a competitive used-luxury market rather than a strong appreciation story. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history should still attract attention, but pricing them realistically will matter.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used luxury sedan that prioritises comfort, technology, and a polished driving experience, the 2018 is a strong choice. If your main goal is to minimise purchase price, a nearby year may be worth a look, but the 2018 stands out as the better pick when you value the overall ownership experience more than chasing the absolute lowest sticker.
