Is the 2018 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable interior, smooth driving experience, and spaciousness, while also noting its family-friendly safety features and overall value. That lines up well with its role as a family-oriented midsize SUV that offers a lot of space and equipment for the money. With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2018 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many people find dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, especially when it comes to comfort and family duty. At the same time, some owners mention potential mechanical concerns, so a careful inspection and maintenance review matter on the used market. For long-term ownership, your risk is lower if you prioritise well-documented service history and a clean recall record.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 316 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.35% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,066 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $14,068 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,818 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Sorento easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current softness means your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Well-kept examples should still hold appeal because the Sorento remains a practical family SUV with broad shopper interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Sorento is a sensible choice if you want a well-equipped, spacious family SUV with strong owner approval and a softer used-market price. If you’re focused on value and want more room to negotiate, this year looks especially worth considering. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a similar Sorento offers a better mix of condition, mileage, and asking price.
