What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most straightforward version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience. Some versions are missing features, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want before you buy.
• Powertrain: You can shop the 1.5-litre turbo four or the 2.0-litre turbo four. The 2.0-litre engine is smoother and stronger, while the 1.5-litre is efficient and still plenty capable for daily driving.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing comes standard and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.
• Infotainment: The system is faster and easier to use than earlier versions, with a customisable home screen and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless device charging is standard on Touring, and rear USB ports are standard on EX-L and Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5T with CVT is rated at 7.9 L/100 km city and 6.3 highway, while the 2.0T automatic is rated at 10.4 city and 7.4 highway. The hybrid is mentioned as potentially more efficient, but no figure is stated here.

Which 2018 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras. It’s also one of the trims where the six-speed manual is available in Canada.
• Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more equipment and keeps the Accord’s engaging character intact. It also gets LaneWatch, which is a useful safety and visibility feature.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more convenience features. It also includes LaneWatch and adds rear USB ports.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich 1.5T trim, with blind-spot monitoring, wireless device charging, rear USB ports, and more premium convenience equipment.
• Sport 2.0: This is the pick if you want the stronger 2.0-litre turbo engine and still want a trim that feels relatively accessible. It’s the most compelling choice for drivers who care about performance.
• Touring 2.0: This is the top-spec choice for shoppers who want the strongest engine plus the most equipment. It combines the 2.0-litre turbo with the Accord’s most complete feature set.

Honda Sensing comes standard on every trim, while blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be picky if you’re shopping now.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 239 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,114 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $19,114 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,146 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can put some pressure on future resale expectations if you sell soon. If you buy at today’s lower average, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher level. Strong demand for well-regarded, well-equipped examples should still help the best-kept cars hold value better than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord safe?

The 2018 Accord is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing comes standard on every Accord and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

A lower headlight rating kept it from earning Top Safety Pick+ status, so that is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its all-new tenth-generation feel, sporty driving character, and strong mix of efficiency, technology, and refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the most distinctive Accord of this era, the 2018 is the one to target because it combines a more engaging drive with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year. If you’re mainly focused on value and can be flexible on features, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2018 remains a smart choice when you find a clean example at the right price.
