What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and exterior presentation are more upscale in higher trims, with the top versions adding features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, a head-up display, wireless device charging, rear USB ports, and blind-spot monitoring. Base versions are more straightforward, so you should check whether the features you want are included before you buy.
• Powertrain: The Accord uses two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, with the 1.5-litre turbo in 1.5T models and the 2.0-litre turbo in 2.0T models. The 1.5T is the efficiency-focused choice, while the 2.0T brings stronger performance and a 10-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing comes standard and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, while LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.
• Infotainment: The infotainment system is faster and easier to use than earlier versions, with a customisable home screen, Garmin navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and HondaLink. Wireless device charging is standard on Touring, and rear USB ports are standard on EX-L and Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5T with CVT is rated at 7.9 L/100 km city and 6.3 L/100 km highway, while the 2.0T automatic is rated at 10.4 L/100 km city and 7.4 L/100 km highway. The manuals and some higher-output versions carry higher consumption figures.

Which 2018 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Sport 2.0, Touring 2.0.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest way into the Accord, and it suits you if you want the core sedan experience with the standard safety suite and a manual transmission option.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more appealing look and includes LaneWatch, while still keeping the Accord’s strong everyday usability.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and added convenience, including rear USB ports and LaneWatch.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich 1.5T trim, with blind-spot monitoring, wireless charging, a head-up display, and the most premium equipment.
• Sport 2.0: Pick this if you want the stronger 2.0-litre engine and a more engaging drive without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Touring 2.0: This is the most powerful and best-equipped version, combining the 2.0-litre engine with the Touring feature set for buyers who want the fullest Accord experience.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, while blind-spot monitoring is reserved for Touring trims and LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda Accord?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re comparing multiple listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 221 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,778 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $18,778 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,579 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. The Accord’s broad appeal, roomy cabin, and strong reputation for refinement should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Higher-trim cars with the right features may hold attention better than stripped-down versions, since shoppers often look for value and comfort in this segment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda Accord safe?

The 2018 Accord is rated a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing comes standard on every Accord and includes auto-braking, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, road departure mitigation with lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. Auto high beams, LED low-beam headlights, a driver attention monitor, and a backup camera with three views also come standard. Blind-spot monitoring is standard on Touring trims, while LaneWatch is included with Sport and EX-L.

A lower headlight rating kept it from earning Top Safety Pick+ status, so that is the main safety caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model is all-new, which gives it a fresh design, updated technology, and a more polished driving character.

The bottom line: The 2018 Accord is the right pick if you want the redesigned generation with strong owner satisfaction, good value, and a more engaging feel than many midsize sedans. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2018 stands out as the cleaner choice when you want the newer body and the broader appeal that comes with it.
