Is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, and its appeal comes from being small, practical, and easy to live with. Chevrolet positioned it as a city-friendly crossover that blends the higher driving position and added space of a small SUV with the manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency of a sedan. It also offers useful everyday features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus available equipment like a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, and a Bose audio system.

That makes it a sensible fit if you want an affordable, compact SUV that prioritises practicality and ease of use over flash. 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Trax is described as a practical, easy-to-live-with small SUV, and its straightforward mission can be appealing if you want something simple for daily use. It also benefits from useful equipment and a compact footprint that suits city driving well.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some of the model’s safety equipment was still optional rather than standard, so you should verify the exact feature content of any example you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 92 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,656 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $13,091 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,469 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Trax is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for you to purchase well, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Because the model is positioned as a practical, budget-conscious crossover, resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Trax makes the most sense if you want a practical, city-friendly crossover and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year may also be worth a look, but the 2018 is a solid choice when you want a balance of value, usability, and current market softness.
